God's Handiwork
May 31, 2020

I see your color,
Beautifully dark.
I embrace it fully,
As God's creative mark.
Â
I look in your dark eyes,
And marvel every time.
I want to see your color,
As different from mine.
Â
Because in this difference,
Exists a Creator's handiwork,
Assigning culture and shade to His people,
Makes us His diverse Church.
Â
The spirit of your ancestors,
Exists in your smile.
Your history is my shame,
For you, I'll go the extra mile.
Â
Those who shun your skin,
Aren't just racist against you,
They're racist against Creator God,
Because my Savior's skin was dark too.
