Finances: Multiple Incomes

Why sell toothpaste?

God is our Provider. I could write a post every day for months, telling stories of how the Lord has provided for my family. From someone letting us stay in their house for free to someone giving us a car, the examples of God's loving care for us are endless. He has revealed Himself to us over and over again in how He has been generous to us, and because of His faithfulness, I will always have faith in His provision.

Our relationship with money has had its ups and downs. Our journey has involved debt and living paycheck to paycheck, to today being debt free with no credit cards and a sum in savings.

Perhaps the time of my life that God showed His provision most was when I was able to stay at home with my kids until they were in school. It didn't make sense on paper how we could do that, but the Lord provided. Even in the little things, the Lord revealed Himself. Like the time I was grocery shopping and trying very hard to stick to my tight budget. I saw some chocolate covered blueberries I wanted to buy SO bad. At the check out, I knew they would put me over and were not a necessity, so I left them behind. The next day, our "angel" neighbor across the street just so happened to show up at my doorstep with chocolate covered blueberries she didn't want.

Then there came a time where I knew I needed to contribute to our income. I knew that I could participate in making money to ease the burden on my husband and help provide for our family.

Finding multiple ways to make money goes a long way. Currently I have four avenues of incoming money while still putting my family first.

One of the ways I am making money is selling a whitening toothpaste with no bleach or peroxide. Why sell toothpaste? It is a great product that people love. There is no start up fee (so no risk) and I can do it all from home in very little time spent.

So far the money I am making in a month from this business has been enough to pay for a house cleaner or food for our upcoming trip or birthday presents for our kids. Every little bit helps!

It has been great getting out of my ruts regarding how I have been making money. It is satisfying to be creative and proactive in making money in ways that don't compromise my core values. Sometimes we have great plans and visions but never GO FOR IT. We spend our days THINKING about it instead of DOING it. If you have ideas in how to help your family by making extra money, and you feel it is in God's will, go for it! Working hard and going for things keeps us from existing in status quo.

God receives all glory in how He has provided for us.

Hebrews 13:5 says, "Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, 'Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.' So we say with confidence, 'The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.'."

Whether four ways to income or none, God has always been near to us and HE is all we need.
