    Behold His Blessings

    December 28, 2018

    Brooke Williams

To God be the glory for any and all good that is in my life.

This time of year, as we spend time with family we love and opening presents galore while taking a break from the hustle and bustle, thankfulness fills our hearts as we recognize how "blessed" we are.

Ezekiel 34:25-26 says, "I will make a covenant of peace with them and rid the land of wild beasts so that they may live in the desert and sleep in the forests in safety.  I will bless them and the places surrounding my hill.  I will send down showers in season;  there will be showers of blessing."

Have we not been showered with blessing?  Thanks be to the One who blesses.

Sitting on my living room floor, watching the delight on my children's faces as they open gifts, is such a blessing.

Sitting around the kitchen table, playing Trivial Pursuit with my family, laughing and having a blast, is a blessing for sure.

Eating all the food that took days to prepare, filling the table, assuring us we will not be hungry that night, is a blessing indeed.

I often stop and realize that the life God has given me is full of blessings.  I'm completely in awe of where he has brought me through my life.

I have a husband who I adore and who loves me deeply.

I have two precious kids I am so proud of.

I have a job that provides for my family and brings me great joy every day.

I have a full pantry and fridge and a bed to sleep on.

I could go on and on.

But, what if these "blessings" cease?  What if my husband would have died in that accident three years ago?  What if our jobs were gone and that food in the pantry were sparse?  What if we were without these precious children of ours?

Behold this blessing (the only one we need as we live in this temporary place).  Behold:  God sent His son, Jesus.

Ezekiel 34:22-23 says, "I will save my flock, and they will no longer be plundered.  I will judge between one sheep and another.  I will place over them one shepherd, my servant David (the Messiah), and he will tend them;  he will tend them and be their shepherd."

THIS is blessing, not in the absence of conflict or hurt or strife, but is the only blessing to bring true contentment, fulfillment, and security.

To God be the glory for any and all good that is in our lives. We are so blessed, not because of what we have, but because of who He is.
