No Status Quo Recipe
Y'all, I go through some serious ruts in my cooking. While I do cook, I often fall into the status quo. Food is supposed to be full of flavor and enjoyed by the whole family, which is what I want to share with you today.
Eating around the dinner table is high priority in our home. No matter what our nightly schedule is, what time we get home from dance or whatever sport Braxton is playing, we sit down with each other and eat dinner together, face to face. This is our time to connect as a family and to help our children stay grounded into who we are as a family. You know how precious those dinnertime conversations are: anything from hilarious-spit-out-our-water-talks to serious-what's-bothering-you-talks. Either way, sharing our hearts, laughing, making memories, and just being together makes the extra time at the dinner table worth it and vital. Even if it is at 8:30 at night.
I challenge you, if you are falling into the status quo of rushing through meals separately or on-the-go, to make an intention to spend more time together around the table. This will fill up your kids in a world where many other things are trying to win their hearts.
SO, how do we do it? How do we make time to cook and eat around the table together in a busy, routine-filled schedule? We all know that we are looking for some recipes that are easy and low maintenance. But we want them to be enjoyed by the whole family too.
I want to help resource you to be intentional about making choices that help you live life to the fullest. Spark Recipes' Slow Cooker: Easy Taco Soup is easy and delicious for the whole family. It is made in the crockpot, and it makes enough for plenty of leftovers. What I love most about this meal is that it calls for FROZEN chicken breasts. This means you don't have to remember to take the chicken out of the freezer to thaw beforehand! As nice as it is to plan ahead, sometimes we just don't, and this recipe accommodates that.
My family recommends this taco soup. I like to make quinoa to mix with it. We hope you will enjoy it as a family around the dinner table.
I hope you will try out this yummy soup, and comment about your thoughts. Also, please share your no status quo recipes. I would love more ideas to keep me out of status quo cooking.
